After 8 incredible years, 2 store locations, countless acai bowls and smoothies, we’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to close the doors of Detox Superfood Bar at the end of August. This is a post we never wanted to write. ❤️ Detox was built from a simple vision, to bring fresh, healthy takeaway food to Geelong. We’re so proud to have been the first takeaway acai bowl and smoothie shop in Geelong, and even prouder of the community we’ve built along the way. ➡️ But behind every small hospitality business is a reality that not everyone sees. The rising cost of ingredients, supplies, rent, wages, insurance, utilities, packaging and the countless other costs of running a business have put enormous pressure on small hospitality venues. We’ve worked incredibly hard to keep our prices fair while maintaining the quality we believe in, but unfortunately, it’s no longer financially sustainable for us to continue. 🍓And we know we’re not alone. We are sadly one of many small hospitality businesses facing these challenges, and there will likely be more to come. Behind every closed shopfront is a small business owner, a team, families, suppliers and years of hard work. ➡️So please, support your local hospitality businesses. Grab the coffee. Order the takeaway. Book the dinner. Visit the local businesses you love. Tell your friends about them. Those small choices genuinely make a difference. To our incredible staff over the years, loyal customers, and amazing local suppliers- THANK YOU. Thank you for believing in us, supporting us and making Detox what it became. We will be forever grateful. We’ve absolutely loved our time on Pakington Street and are so grateful for every person who has walked through our doors. 🥹 For now, it’s business as usual and we’ll be trading until the end of August.
